A very popular saying normally used to symbolise productivity, however we are using it to promote serenity. Wake up 15-30 minutes before your alarm is due to go off and do something for you – take a walk, go for a run, read a book or simply brew some coffee and enjoy the quiet time. Use this time to do something for yourself.

Just say no
It’s so easy to get tied into doing favours for everyone, especially when they know your routine. But feel free to say no every once in a while and don’t feel guilty for it. The extra 20 minutes you would use on doing another ‘quick favour’ for someone else, take it and do something for yourself.

Failing to plan is a plan to fail
Just as you’d plan to take annual leave at work, plan to take a night off. A real night off. absolutely no chores and definitely no errands. Book the babysitter or drop the kids off with some friends and plan to enjoy an activity of your choice or eat in your favourite restaurant.
