D is for Dining Like A Grown-Up

Being a functional, grown-up, real-life adult can be pretty stressful at times. Particularly when it comes to those occasions when we have to prove our adultness to other adults, whether that’s our friends, co-workers, relatives or (please no!) our in-laws.

Throwing a dinner party is definitely one of these times. When you were younger, having friends over for dinner just meant it was your job to answer the door to the pizza delivery guy. Now they’re  coming over with their partners and expecting an equisite meal, masterfully prepared, with three courses of excellence accompanied by wine, light political chat and polite discussions about work. And you’ve seen from all those hours spent watching Come Dine With Me how cruel dinner guests can be!
