Don’t forget that on Sunday 19th June it’s Father’s Day - one of those times when it really is the thought that counts. It’s not about spending money on expensive presents; it’s about making dads feel special and showing appreciation. Sometimes it’s just as simple as giving them a break for the day from the little things like getting the newspaper or making breakfast.
If you want to help your little ones show their dad how much they care, how about trying one (or more) of our top tips below to help them celebrate the most important man in their life?

Make dad's day
This may seem like a no-brainer, but rather than try to plan the day or activities, ask what he’d like to do and make it happen! It may be that he’d just like to kick back with a cup of tea and the Sunday paper or a crossword puzzle, or maybe sit uninterrupted through a classic Western or the next game of Euro 2016 without having to take the dog for a walk or put the washing in. Take away the pressure of the little things and see a really big smile as your reward!

Feed him up
There are some great recipes that are ridiculously easy for kids to make - or at least help with - that really add that personal, homemade touch to a Father’s Day gift. These Chocolate and Hazelnut Thumbprint Cookies are simple and delicious, or for something even easier how about this Chocolate Fudge from blogger Eats Amazing, with only two ingredients? Anything sweet and thoughtful will go down a treat!
Or for a simple breakfast, treat him to a Toast N Egg – perfect for a quick and easy breakfast in bed.

Make it personal
Encouraging your kids to make their own Father’s Day card is one of the most personal and memorable gifts. Using things you already have around the house means that it doesn’t have to be costly either - some paints and coloured card are a great starting point and from there your imagination’s the limit! Think glitter, cotton, string, dried pasta, buttons… If you’re a little short of inspiration Pinterest is always guaranteed to come to the rescue!

We love this clever idea for a ‘Love Jar’ from MollymooCrafts - a really simple gift that’s easy to make but that lasts for so much longer than Father’s Day. All you need is an empty jar, some notepaper and a pen and something decorative like a ribbon or bow. Get your kids to write personal notes letting their dad know what he means to them and pop them in the jar - the best bit about them is that he doesn’t have to open them all at once and will have something to keep him smiling for weeks to come.
How will you be celebrating Father’s Day? If you’ve got any top tips of your own we’d love to hear them in the Comments below.
