Push back
Helping others is a good thing but saying yes to everything leaves us overwhelmed. Before you agree to a request, take a moment to weight it up. If you have a lot going on and feel that saying yes will leave you stretched, then it’s time to politely decline.
Saying no can feel daunting but done in a clear and friendly way (including a reason and alternative solution if possible) is fair on the person asking and much kinder to you. Plus, you’ll have another chance to help out in future.
