Waffles, Donuts and Turnovers, Oh My!

by Tefal Team on 02 April 2020
  • Remember spending a large part of the 1990s in awe of the fact you could make a toasted sandwich in a machine that even melted your cheese for you? This was robots! This was the future! Now, we can turn our lights on when we’re miles away from home and ask our virtual assistants to put the kettle on for us. We’ve come a long way in the past 20 years, but we have to admit melted cheese is still pretty exciting.

  • As technology has evolved, so have our grilled snacking options. With the Tefal Snack Collection, there’s so much more you can make than a tuna melt toastie – although we still think they’re pretty great.

From heart-shaped waffles to turnovers and even bagels, the Snack Collection is the solution to all your snacking needs – we know there are a lot of them. Sometimes, a packet of salt and vinegar or a granola bar just won’t cut it and only a grilled treat will do.

Next time you’re feeling peckish, try one of these tasty and filling delights with a twist – but not every time. Sometimes you should definitely reach for that fruit bowl instead!

  • Gluten-free waffles

Sweet or savoury, waffles are always a winner. But if you can’t eat gluten, you can feel like you’re missing out. Unless you adapt a traditional recipe to make it a little more coeliac-friendly, that is!

The Gluten-Free Blogger has a yummy recipe for gluten-free waffles that use coconut flour as the substitute for traditional wheat-based flour, and they’re also low-carb AND suitable for anyone following the Paleo diet. Has a waffle ever ticked so many boxes?!

Top them with mixed berries or sliced banana for some extra goodness and drizzle over honey or a little maple syrup to satisfy your sweet tooth.

  • Savoury donuts

What’s your favourite donut filling? Jam? Custard? Chocolate cream? Red pepper chutney? You didn’t expect that curveball, did you?

The Baking Fanatic’s recipe for chutney-filled savoury donuts has opened our eyes to a whole new world of donuts. To be honest, we were satisfied enough with the old ones, but filling donuts with cream cheese and chives or caramelised onion chutney is definitely something we can get on board with.

  • Chocolate dessert panini

You wouldn’t eat a ham sandwich for dessert – well, maybe you would, we don’t know. But a toastie? A toastie’s different.

You could of course choose to use the Snack Collection’s panini plate to make a gorgeous BLT or cheese and tomato panini, but you could also think outside the box and make a sweet panini, just like Call me PMC.

Her recipe for a chocolate dessert panini is decadent, gooey and an absolute treat for your tastebuds. Just maybe have a salad beforehand, as it’s not the healthiest of puds!

  • Salted banoffee ice cream sundae

Ever made your own wafers? You can with the Snack Collection! Some people think they’re the best part of an ice cream sundae, others think they’re tasteless. But paired with this super-simple three-ingredient salted caramel ice cream from The Crazy Kitchen, sliced banana and butterscotch sauce, wafers are the perfect topper for the banoffee sundae of your dreams. Even the most cynical of wafer sceptics will be won over – guaranteed.

  • Peanut butter and blueberry turnovers

Turnovers are not just about apple. Don’t get us wrong, apple turnovers are amazing, especially when dusted with a sprinkling of cinnamon. But the Snack Collection puts you in control of your own snack destiny and is the perfect opportunity to try out the fillings you never knew you wanted to try – peanut butter and blueberry.

Bake Then Eat’s recipe for PB and blueberry turnovers will quickly become your new favourite, with its sticky nuttiness and burst of vibrant berries – so so good.

There are so many snacking possibilities with the Tefal Snack Collection and we’ve listed only a tiny handful of these above. Don’t be scared to experiment – your new favourite combination could be just a turnover away. Happy sticking with your tuna and cheese toastie? That’s fine too.
