Jacket, Trousers and Tie – You Really Look The Part!
The first ironing tip to remember is that you should never iron a tie! The fabric is usually extremely fragile, so instead roll it around a bottle of hot water or remove the creases with steam. And when it comes to ironing your jacket and trousers, don’t panic! All you need is a little organisation and a good iron and you’ll look like a pro!
The best thing for your suit is steam, and with a steam generator, you don’t even need to iron – you can simply steam out the creases vertically! If you come up against a really stubborn crease, make sure you always iron it inside-out. Ideally, you should place a sheet or towel between the suit and your iron, to avoid damaging the fabric. The shoulders of your jacket and the waistline of your trousers are easier to iron using the rounded end of the board.
Hang your suit on a wooden clothes hanger (not a metal one, which may leave marks in the shoulders), and space your suits out as much as possible in the wardrobe. Finally, for a totally impeccable and crease-free turn-out, follow our tips on how to iron a shirt!
