Are You Getting The Most Out of Your ActiFry?

by Tefal Team on 28 April 2017
  • If you’ve already got an ActiFry, you’ll already know how great it is. We’re not tooting our own horn here – okay we are just a little bit – but your ActiFry is ideal for making quick, easy, tasty and healthy meals.

We all know that this kitchen gadget is amazing when it comes to making chips, but are you using it to its full potential? The ActiFry is more than just the best thing for creating crispy chips and wedges with fewer calories, it can really make a difference to how you cook so many different meals.

If it can make the ultimate comfort food better for you, then how can you use your ActiFry to transform other dishes? Well, we’re going to let you in on a few tips and tricks that will ensure you’re getting the most out of your ActiFry and helping to keep meals as healthy as possible.

  • No more burned sausages

Using a fryer to cook sausages is far from the healthiest option and grilling them requires you to constantly keep an eye on them to avoid burning. Rather than have to keep turning them over or dodging oil getting spat at you from the frying pan, pop your sausages in your ActiFry health fryer.

Not only can you get away with adding no or very little oil, the paddle keeps them moving so they cook totally evenly without you having to lift a finger. This is ideal if you want to cook them completely or just brown them ready for a casserole or toad in the hole.

  • The best roast potatoes

What’s a Sunday roast without roast potatoes? In fact, what’s comfort food without roast potatoes? As far as we’re concerned, roasties that are crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside can give even chips a run for their money – especially if you cook them in an ActiFry.

Just as with chips, your ActiFry can perfectly cook your roast potatoes with minimal effort. A tiny bit of oil goes a long way, making them much healthier than using a deep fat fryer, while the paddle attachment ensures you don’t have to keep rearranging them to get them to crisp up. Try The Kitchen Shed’s recipe for rosemary roast potatoes to see what we mean.

Now all you need is the gravy!

  • Chuck all the veggies in!

In fact, it isn’t just potatoes that are ideal for roasting in your ActiFry, you can throw most vegetables in. Whether you like parsnips, butternut squash, carrots or courgette, popping them in your ActiFry is the easiest and healthiest way to roast them.

You just need to prepare them, add in your oil and sit back while your veggies cook perfectly. This is ideal if you want to make a roast dinner simple or if you want to try something different to boiling your veg.

  • Chicken on the bone

You don’t need to save your chicken drumsticks for barbecue weather, as they can easily be cooked in your ActiFry – making them an ideal choice if you want a quick meal on a budget. Once again, the paddle means you don’t need to worry about turning them over constantly and you don’t even need to add any oil.

Whether you eat the chicken on the bone or remove it when it’s cooked, Fab Food 4 All has a great method for the perfect chicken that is succulent and delicious.

  • Even healthier fish

You might think the paddle will cause issues when it comes to cooking fish in your ActiFry, but our snacking grid is ideal for delicate foods. You can simply place your fish fillets in it and let your gadget do its thing, resulting in tasty and flaky fish that is evenly cooked and even healthier than it is usually.

You can even pop breaded fish in the snacking grid for a healthier version of fish and chips.

  • Lower-fat doughnuts

Those with a sweet tooth will be happy to hear that you also have the option of creating delicious desserts in your ActiFry – including things that are usually deep fried.

Doughnuts can be baked in your ActiFry, making them a little bit healthier – although we still won’t say they are good for you – helping to alleviate some of your guilt over indulging. Try this recipe from the Culinary Jumble to enjoy something different – we won’t tell on you if you don’t make your own jam!
