London Tube Map Redrawn For Christmas Treats

What if the iconic map of the London Underground didn’t just tell you where to get off to change for the Bakerloo line, but also gave you info on the best seasonal snacks around? Well, some clever sausage (or should we say, pig in blanket, seeing as it’s Christmas) has redrawn the Tube map to do just that.

You might be cruising along on the Piccadilly line and decide you’ve got a hankering for a Christmas dinner pizza. Pull up your Festive Food Tube Map and hey presto, you’ll know you need to get off at Covent Garden and head to Fire & Stone.

If your cravings are a bit classier than having roast turkey, rosemary roast potatoes and gravy (yes, gravy) in a deep dish, then you may wish to alight at Edgware Road. This stop on the Circle Line is home to The Landmark Hotel, where our trusty map tells us a festive afternoon tea is being served.

We’re talking fondant snowflake topped macarons, festive finger sandwiches and lashings of champagne, darling. It’s all served in the eight-storey glass atrium and accompanied by soothing music. Certainly beats grabbing a meal deal while desperately trying to tick off the last presents on the list to the sound of Noddy Holder screeching ‘It’s Christmaaas’ for the 17,000th time.

For those looking for a liquid lunch (hey, we’re not judging; like Noddy said, it’s Christmas), then your new and improved map can help there too. Disembark from the Central line at Liverpool Street and make your way to the Queen of Hoxton to sample the ridiculously-decadent-just-because-it’s-Christmas hot buttered tarte tatin rum.

If that does sound just a little too over-the-top, then you could always try a Chrimbellini from Be At One. We’re not quite sure what secret ingredient puts the Chrimbo in this overwise classic cocktail, but if you get off the Metropolitan line at Baker Street and go to find out, do let us know.

Other festive treats to ride the Underground salivating about include the Burgducken burger from MEATliquor at King’s Cross; a Christmas pudding doughnut available at Bread Ahead near Bond Street station; and Jin Bo Law’s milk and cookies cocktail in Aldgate.

Since it’s just under two weeks until the big day, we reckon there’s time to hit up a good proportion of these treats. You could even turn it into an epic Tube food crawl, although we all probably eat enough at Christmas as it is.
