Yeast of your problems
To avoid a dough disaster, you need to know your rapid rise yeast from your active dry yeast. If you are not familiar with yeast the main things you need to ensure is that you have a fresh packet… don’t use that ancient packet at the back of the cupboard or you will set yourself up to fail! Most recipes call for Active dry yeast (the ones that look like little granules) which requires warm water to activate it, whereas instant yeast (also known as rapid-rise, quick-rise or even bread machine yeast) doesn’t, and you simply sprinkle the required amount directly into the dough.

No knead to rush
The idea of kneading dough can be a little daunting if you haven’t given it ago before. But fear not, it’s actually rather fun and only takes 10minutes, a little flour and a pair of hands. The Spruse Eats it will walk you through it step by step so you will be an expert in no time.
-
Prove your skills
You don’t want to waste all your hard work and not give your dough the right time and conditions sufficient for creating a lovely rise and a delicious taste. It is important to consider the temperature, if it is too cold it will take longer to rise and if it is too hot you could jeopardise the flavour. Serious Eats is here to show you how it is done.

Become a roll model
Why not start with these fluffy white rolls/baps/cobs depending on what part of the country you’re from. These beauties are perfect for lunch. Pair them with prawn mayo if you are a traditionalist, or this spicy crunchy Japanese slaw – Katsu Sandos if you are feeling adventurous. But let’s be honest, nothing beats a proper sausage sandwich for breakie! The Cake Factory makes baking a fresh batch of these a doddle, so roll up your sleeve and you will have a lovely batch of rolls in no time!
-
Wholemeal wholesomeness
If you love your bread but want to keep it nice and healthy then these wholemeal bread rolls are for you. You can even sprinkle some seeds on top for extra crunch and brush the loaves with beaten egg for a golden top. They go perfectly with your lunchtime soup or stuff them with yummy not so healthy fillings like bacon, brie and red onion, and if you are feeling posh try ham and asparagus. Once you have made the dough and sprinkled them with toppings or not, pop them in the Cake Factory and 25mins later you will have fresh warm bread!
