by Tefal Team on 09 April 2020
  • Your favourite loaf might be a little tricky to get your hands on at the moment so did you know you that the multi-talented Cake Factory can make bread too!? From focaccia to flapjacks, and rolls, to rabbit cupcakes the possibilities are endless! So, with all of this newfound time you have at home why not turn your hand to making your own bread? We’re talking exquisite, moist, doughy ‘can’t get enough of’ freshly baked bread. The delicious kind you that you accidentally finish in a day! 😉 But that’s no problem because you can always bake another loaf tomorrow. Think about that warm freshly baked bread smell wafting around your home… AKA heaven! Here are some easy but simply scrumptious recipes you can try in the Cake Factory, so you have the peace of mind that your buns will always come out of the oven Cake Factory perfectly. And to ensure your bread comes out dough-licious we also have a few bread making tips.

  • Yeast of your problems

To avoid a dough disaster, you need to know your rapid rise yeast from your active dry yeast. If you are not familiar with yeast the main things you need to ensure is that you have a fresh packet… don’t use that ancient packet at the back of the cupboard or you will set yourself up to fail! Most recipes call for Active dry yeast (the ones that look like little granules) which requires warm water to activate it, whereas instant yeast (also known as rapid-rise, quick-rise or even bread machine yeast) doesn’t, and you simply sprinkle the required amount directly into the dough.

  • No knead to rush

The idea of kneading dough can be a little daunting if you haven’t given it ago before. But fear not, it’s actually rather fun and only takes 10minutes, a little flour and a pair of hands. The Spruse Eats it will walk you through it step by step so you will be an expert in no time.

  • Prove your skills

You don’t want to waste all your hard work and not give your dough the right time and conditions sufficient for creating a lovely rise and a delicious taste. It is important to consider the temperature, if it is too cold it will take longer to rise and if it is too hot you could jeopardise the flavour. Serious Eats is here to show you how it is done.

  • Become a roll model

Why not start with these fluffy white rolls/baps/cobs depending on what part of the country you’re from. These beauties are perfect for lunch. Pair them with prawn mayo if you are a traditionalist, or this spicy crunchy Japanese slaw – Katsu Sandos if you are feeling adventurous. But let’s be honest, nothing beats a proper sausage sandwich for breakie! The Cake Factory makes baking a fresh batch of these a doddle, so roll up your sleeve and you will have a lovely batch of rolls in no time!

  • Wholemeal wholesomeness

If you love your bread but want to keep it nice and healthy then these wholemeal bread rolls are for you. You can even sprinkle some seeds on top for extra crunch and brush the loaves with beaten egg for a golden top. They go perfectly with your lunchtime soup or stuff them with yummy not so healthy fillings like bacon, brie and red onion, and if you are feeling posh try ham and asparagus. Once you have made the dough and sprinkled them with toppings or not, pop them in the Cake Factory and 25mins later you will have fresh warm bread!

  • Can’t focaccia mention this recipe

Ok, so its dinner time and you want to impress the other half… who are we kidding, getting dressed out of your PJ’s is currently deemed as making an effort! 😂 If you want to mix things up at dinner time and make something extra special, but without all of that extra effort… then this easy focaccia recipe is for you. The best thing about this yummy recipe is that it can be adapted to your taste, and let’s be honest to whatever ingredients you have knocking around in the cupboards. You can mix it up and add lots of different herbs, olives, or even sundried tomatoes, the choice is yours. We know the white stuff can be tricky to get your hands on these days, so this recipe only requires standard white flour… no need for speciality bread flour here! Hurrah we hear you cry! 👏 Another great bonus of this easy recipe is there is minimal kneading required so you won’t get tired arms, and the Cake Factory ensures the focaccia comes out mouth-wateringly good every time!

  • Baking brilliance

We hope these tasty recipes have inspired you to get baking, and if you get on a baking ‘roll’ (see what we did there 😉) then you may want to try a batch of muffins! The free Cake Factory app has recipes for blueberrycarrot or chocolate with a caramel centre to name but a few. And if muffins aren’t your thing then the app has over 200 fabulous bakes to try so there is something for everyone! Happy baking!
