Feast On Festival Food

by Tefal Team on 14 August 2019
  • Let’s be honest, festivals are as much about the food as they are the music and mayhem. The drool-inducing smells wafting over from food trucks tempt crowds of hungry revellers to queue up for cartons full of flavours from all over the world.

Whether you’re craving burritos just the way they tasted at Glasto, missed out on that legendary mac and cheese at Latitude or you just fancy seeing what all the fuss is about, here’s our pick of the best festival-style food to cook up at home.

  • Staples to salivate over

All that dancing, cider-swilling and stomping from stage to stage calls for some tasty carbs. Burgers are the backbone of festival food the world over, but step aside overcooked meat in limp buns – we’re talking about epic burger creations chock full of your favourite fillings.

Then there’s chips, but not as you usually know them. They’re likely to be loaded with all manner of jaw-dropping sauces and toppings, like these crispy buffalo fries – perfect for the ActiFry.

Mac and cheese has been the surprising star of the festival scene for a few years now thanks to the deliciously pimped varieties on offer. Try this deluxe mac and cheese with chicken meatballs – need we say more?

  • Chow down on Euro nosh

Eat your way through the flavours of Europe in a weekend. Start in Switzerland with one of this year’s festival high points: raclette. This traditional Swiss dish of oozy melted cheese poured over boiled potatoes, cured meats and pickled veg usually requires a raclette machine, but you can just melt the cheese in the oven instead.

Paella is the party food of Spain so it’s only right that it should be making appearances across our summer festivals. It looks like a tricky dish to cook up but it’s surprisingly straightforward and well worth the effort. Try this knockout paella recipe.

Sunday lunch with a difference? Serve it festival-style with a twist on a great British classic – giant Yorkshire pudding filled with meat, mash, sausages and gravy. Heaven.

  • Unbeatable international eats

A complete meal of chicken, rice, beans, cheese and salad wrapped in a tortilla – it’s no wonder burritos are the fast food of choice for many festivalgoers. Try this festival-worthy recipe and wrap in foil for an authentic eating-in-a-field experience.

No self-respecting festival would be without a falafel stall or two. Make your own mighty falafel sandwich at home with this mouth-watering recipe.

And as the sun sets on a music-and-mud-filled day, a warming bowl of ramen is the noodle of choice for those in the know. This delicious vegan ramen work just as well after a day spent lounging around the house.

  • Drinks please

The drinks on offer at festivals are as varied and fabulous as the food. Alongside run-of-the-mill hot, cold and alcoholic bevvies (yawn), festival goers have been sipping on the likes of cold brew coffee, watermelon slushies, kombucha and macha green tea lattes – all easy to recreate at home.

Whatever you’ve prepared, it wouldn’t be the full festival feel if you didn’t eat it outside (preferably wearing wellies) while trying to juggle a reusable cup and your phone as you Instagram your top-notch festival-style nosh. #Tasty.
