What Should You Buy This Christmas?

by Tefal Team on 24 November 2016
  • November is starting to wear on, which means December will have arrived before you know it. This means that you can officially start thinking about Christmas – even if your grumpy other half doesn’t want to.

As well as working out what you need to cook the perfect Christmas dinner, you also need to start playing Father Christmas and writing your own list of gifts. This isn’t always as easy as you might think, especially if you’ve got that awkward family member who always claims they don’t want anything and yet never seems too thrilled with socks.

Rather than fighting through the crowds on the high street to find anything that looks like it would make a half-decent present for your Auntie Jill, use our Christmas gift guide to find the perfect option.

  • Tech-obsessed

  • We’ve all got that one relative who is totally obsessed with all things tech and who fills their Christmas list with ridiculous things you’ve never even heard of. Rather than getting them that drone that they wanted and leaving them to probably crash within five minutes, why not get them something a bit different?

They’ll probably love a woolly hat with headphones attached so they can listen to music on their latest snazzy phone or a mini hoover that they can use to keep their desk clean to make more room for gadgets. Of course, you could also indulge their techy side and give them an ActiFry Smart, which will add a bit of space-age kit to their kitchen.

  • Beauty addict

  • There’s always someone who adores beauty products and cosmetics, which usually means that they end up with enough sets of shower gel or unbranded makeup to last them a lifetime. While you could get them something practical and a bit different like a light-up mirror or a selfie stick to show off their makeup in the perfect photo, there’s definitely better things to buy.

You could let them get creative and make their own makeup with a DIY nail polish kit or ensure they enjoy really relaxing baths with removable bath jets that turn any tub into a Jacuzzi.

  • Awkward recipient

  • Whether it’s your dad, gran, auntie or partner, there is guaranteed to be someone you need to buy for that is impossible to please. The awkward gift recipient never really tells you what they want or what they like and usual sticks with saying ‘whatever you get me will be fine’. It’s these people that usually have you pulling your hair out and dipping into the sherry you bought for Santa.

Whoever it is that you can never seem to please, the key is to give them something really stupid or really versatile. This means opting for a Cake Splat game or character slippers if you want to make them laugh. Alternatively, you could treat them to an OptiGrill, which is an ideal gift for anyone thanks to its versatility and is sure to stand out from some of the more questionable gifts they’ll likely receive.

  • Your mum

  • If there’s someone who deserves a good gift this Christmas, it is definitely your mum. Rather than picking up another pair of fluffy slippers, a box of chocolates or a CD from that band you think she said she liked, get her something a bit more special.

While something like a spa day or theatre tickets might be a nice way to pamper her, she might not necessarily get to use them. Your mum probably has a lot on her schedule so getting her a gift like this can be difficult as you need to ensure she can fit everything in.

Instead, why not make her everyday life that bit easier by getting her something great that she’ll definitely be able to use? The Tefal Cook4Me could be the ultimate kitchen appliance for your mum, and one that she’ll actually be happy to receive. It will help whip up dinner easily within 20 minutes – and has the added benefit of saving you from doing much washing up! Of course, you could also promise to help out in the kitchen for the next year, but this seems like the easier option.
