Enjoy an Adult Slushie With These Frozen Cocktails

by Tefal Team on 18 August 2017
  • It isn’t just kids who love a nice cold icy treat, so why not treat yourself to an adult option and a chance to relax in the sunshine this summer? Everyone loves a cocktail, but frozen cocktails kick it up a notch, helping you stay cool while unwinding in the evening. They are also the perfect option for parties if you want to serve something other than wine that you forgot to put in the fridge until 30 minutes before everyone arrived.

Whether you enjoy a small splash of booze, always go for a double, or prefer a non-alcoholic option, these adult slushies are delicious, fun and easy to make. So long as you have a blender and a glass with plenty of room – mini umbrellas are entirely optional – you can enjoy a frozen version of your favourite cocktail.

We’ve found some great recipes that are sure to be a hit whether you’re having a party or a quiet evening once you’ve put the kids to bed.

  • Sangria swirled frozen margaritas

Sangria and margaritas are always solid cocktail choices, but why should you have to choose between the two? Dessert For Two’s recipe combines the best of both worlds in a colourful and mouthwatering cocktail that we’re sure will get served up more than once. While you don’t need margarita glasses for this recipe, they are definitely the best option if you want to pretend you’re being served drinks while chilling by the pool in a tropical paradise.

  • Gin and tonic slushies

It’s hard to imagine anything better than a gin and tonic at the end of a long day, but these gin and tonic slushies from Daisies and Pie are definitely a great way to top the classic G&T. All you need is your favourite tonic and gin – the recipe suggests a lavender gin, but you can use any kind you like. Add some lemon to the drink for an extra dose of freshness or get fancy with the summer trend for edible flowers.

  • Pineapple coconut smoothies

You don’t need to add alcohol to enjoy an adult slushie, as this frozen pineapple and coconut smoothie recipe from Veggie Inspired proves. Suitable for vegans and those under 18, these smoothies are lovely and creamy and are perfect for the middle of the day or the evening. Of course, you could also add a splash of rum if you wanted – we won’t judge!

  • Bourbon peach slush

Peaches are definitely one of the best fruits of the summer – even if it is strawberries that seem to get the most attention. Not only are peaches great fresh or in desserts, they go particularly well with bourbon, especially in frozen cocktail form. This recipe from the Speckled Palate calls for a really simple peach syrup, fresh fruit and a healthy dose of bourbon, all of which combines to create a refreshing and moreish cocktail.

  • Frozen cherry daiquiris

Usually, when you get a daiquiri at a bar, it’s a strawberry one, but this recipe from Celebrating Sweets puts a great spin on a classic, resulting in a cocktail that is possibly even more delicious. The recipe calls for cherry juice and frozen cherries to create a sweet and fruity combination. It also suggests adding a spoonful of vanilla ice cream to your glass to make a very adult float, what better way to cool down this summer?

  • Frozen pink grapefruit and prosecco cocktail

Prosecco is definitely fast becoming the top drink of choice for many Brits, so we couldn’t fail to include a cocktail that includes this tasty tipple. Kitchen Sanctuary’s brilliant recipe is a lot sweeter than it sounds but also has a really great freshness to it that is perfect for hot, sticky days. As well as prosecco, it also includes vodka so packs a punch, making it ideal for any party, although you can skip it if you want something less boozy.
