Chocoholic Meals You Can't Resist

by Tefal Team on 06 July 2017
  • As much as we think every day should be dedicated to chocolate, July 7th is the official National Chocolate Day in the UK. This is the perfect excuse to indulge in your favourite chocolate treats and maybe try some new ones – although, do you really need a reason to enjoy chocolate?

Not only are there amazing chocolate variations to choose from in the shops, there are also thousands of recipes to choose from. Whether you’re a fan of chocolate cake, love a good choc-chip cookie or can’t get enough of indulgent truffles, there are so many ways to use chocolate in your kitchen.

To help you celebrate National Chocolate Day in style, we’ve found five brilliant recipes for you to try. From savoury to sweet and unusual, these are definitely some of the best ways to embrace being a chocoholic, after all, if you can’t do so on a day dedicated to chocolate, when can you?

  • Salted chocolate pots with caramel sauce

There’s always something super indulgent about rich and thick chocolate pots, but this recipe from Amuse Your Bouche kicks things up a notch. It’s made using milk chocolate – although you could probably swap this for dark chocolate if you prefer – creating a smooth and creamy texture, as well as a taste that is to die for.

You might think adding salt to a chocolate pot is a bit odd, but it really helps to bring out that chocolatey taste, while the caramel adds a nice kick of sweetness. The recipe is really easy to follow but looks fantastic, making it ideal for when you’re having people around for dinner or if you just fancy feeding that sweet tooth of yours.

  • Mexican sweet potato and puy lentil mole

Who said you can only use chocolate in desserts? Adding it to savoury courses is definitely allowed and can actually add a great richness to sauces – what better excuse do you need? Dark chocolate is traditionally used in mole sauces and Tinned Tomatoes has made a great vegetarian version that is sure to convince you to go savoury with chocolate more often.

The recipe calls for cocoa powder, but you could try using unsweetened dark chocolate. This adds to the rich colour as well as the smoky flavour, so you’re sure to be hooked.

  • White chocolate torte

If you prefer to lighten things up a bit when it comes to chocolate, white chocolate torte is definitely a good shout. This recipe from Marsha’s Baking Addiction is still incredibly luxurious and indulgent, but the use of white chocolate keeps the flavour more subtle – although no less delicious.

It’s a great alternative to heavy cheesecakes, making it ideal for summer, especially if you team with raspberries or strawberries. For those who also like darker chocolate, you could even finish it off with a chocolate sauce for an extra kick.

  • Chocolate pasta

Everyone knows that pasta is pretty amazing and ridiculously versatile, but we’re pretty sure adding chocolate is a fab way to make it completely incredible. The idea of chocolate pasta may seem odd, but it actually works in both sweet and savoury dishes as the flavour isn’t too overpowering – although it smells really chocolatey when it’s cooking.

Beets and Bones’ recipe is not only really simple, it also comes with three different sauces for you to try with your chocolate pasta. Of course, this means you’ll have to cook it at least three times to see if you prefer it with pistachio pesto, creamy gorgonzola sauce or raspberry sauce with balsamic vinegar.

  • Chocolate ice cream

With the hot weather we’ve been having recently, it is definitely a good idea to have an ice cream recipe at the ready, especially if it is a chocolate one. There’s nothing better than a rich and flavourful bowl of chocolate ice cream on a warm day, except perhaps enjoying it in the knowledge that you don’t need to share!

Whether you like one, two or three scoops of the good stuff, this recipe from One Chopping Board is definitely one you need to try. Using melted chocolate to make the ice cream results in a fantastic flavour, while the simple instructions don’t need you to have an ice cream machine. Now all you need to do is decide on your perfect toppings.

Of course if chocolate’s your thing and you’re always looking for new ways to try it, you should look no further than our new Snack Collection. Whether you fancy choccy biscuits, chocolate waffles, or delicious pancakes covered in choc spread, this baby does it all!
