Delicious Easter Treats to Put Chocolate Eggs to Shame

by Tefal Team on 13 April 2017
  • While you could go to the local supermarket and fight over the remaining chocolate eggs on the shelf, there are ways you can make chocolatey treats even more special this year.

While we’re not suggesting you take on the process of learning chocolate skills to make your own Easter eggs from scratch – although you can definitely do this if you want – there are great ways to enjoy chocolate and make your treats a bit more personal.

Why not start your Easter celebrations in the kitchen and give some delicious sweet foods that come from the heart? Not only will this mean you get to lick the bowl out – we’re pretty sure calories don’t count if they are being made for other people – it also ensures you’ve got an activity or two to keep your kids occupied during the Easter holidays.

To help you find the perfect Easter treats to spoil people with this April, here are some great ideas to try out:

  • Scotch Creme Eggs

Who said scotch eggs have to be savoury? If you can get chocolate eggs then it only stands to reason that chocolate scotch eggs are also most definitely allowed to be a thing. This is why we have a bit of an obsession with this gorgeous recipe from Amuse Your Bouche, which combines the always delicious Creme Egg and a number of other chocolate delights.

While the recipe calls for chocolate sprinkles to finish, you can also try covering your chocolate scotch eggs in coloured white chocolate if you want to make them a little bit different. Of course, you can also experiment with other chocolate egg fillings too, as we’re pretty sure a caramel centre will be just as delicious.

  • Super-fudgy vegan chocolate cake

Being vegan doesn’t mean you or those you love need to be left out at Easter, as there are loads of different chocolate treats to enjoy that fit this dietary requirement. Simply making a few ingredient changes ensures that you can create mouthwatering chocolate treats that are vegan-friendly. In fact, this recipe from Supergolden Bakes is so chocolatey, people probably won’t even realise it is vegan!

While the recipe calls for chocolate frosting made out of avocado, you can easily swap this for a vegan buttercream if you want. You can also top with vegan mini eggs instead of raspberries to make the decorations suit the season.

  • Baked double chocolate orange doughnuts

Rather than Easter cupcakes or cookies, why not make something a bit different this year? Everyone loves a doughnut and these amazing chocolate orange ones from Marsha’s Baking Addiction are sure to have people fighting over the last crumb.

Donuts may seem like a difficult recipe to make, but Marsha’s recipe is easy to follow and hard to mess up so don’t worry. You can make the whole process even simpler by using our Snack Collection, which will be released soon and makes baking things like doughnuts and waffles quick and easy.

  • Mini Egg fudge

Love fudge? Love Mini Eggs? Then this is the recipe for you, not least because it is so incredibly simple! Fudge really isn’t as hard to make as people might think and it is a great alternative to Easter eggs, as you can make it in bulk to be gifted in cute little bags, which is sure to make more of an impact than a supermarket purchase.

Try this recipe from Annie’s Noms for simple and super tasty fudge that looks really colourful. You just need to ensure that you have enough time to make it as it needs to set for a while. You’ll also need to make sure you don’t eat it all yourself, which is very tempting to do.

  • Crunchy rocky road bars

Another simple recipe that can easily be made in bulk to give to everyone on your Easter egg list is rocky road. You can whip up a big batch of this, which then just needs to be cut into bars or small squares to be given to people on Easter Sunday.

There are a lot of recipes for rocky road out there, but we love how Maison Cupcake uses Crunchies for a bit of extra flavour and texture, helping to make this recipe a little bit special. If you want to make the rocky road more suitable for the celebration, you could also add Mini Eggs or decorate with an Easter theme. Of course, it tastes just as good as it is so you may not want to mess with perfection at all.
