Many of us want to try our hand at growing plants and herbs but don’t have the space or even a garden. This doesn’t mean you can’t be green-fingered, though, as one company is now proving.
A team in Canada has created an indoor gardening system that looks like a chic and stylish piece of furniture. As well as looking great, it means you can grow your chosen plants in the ideal condition, whether you just want some green in your home or you want tasty herbs on tap.
The Grobo indoor gardening system also provides real-time information, so you can check on your plants and make sure they are in the best possible conditions. It automatically provides what the plants need – including nutrients, light and water – so it doesn’t matter if you’ve forgotten to check on them for a couple of days

While other smart growing systems can come in rather large sizes – not ideal if you don’t have a huge home to put one in – the Grobo is only four foot tall and fairly slim, taking up a lot less room than your average bookcase.
The technical side of things is pretty impressive when you take into account its size, as it has special photon lights that can mimic natural sunlight, using 63 LEDs in total. You can totally tailor these lights – from the intensity to the cycles and colour wavelength – to ensure you get the best harvest.

Temperature, humidity, soil PH and water are also monitored and controlled, with the Grobo being Wi-Fi connected so you can control the cycle via your smartphone app. You can use this to create your own options or – if you’re not entirely sure what your plant needs – choosing from the selection that already exist.
You’ll also find that the app has tips and information for a huge variety of plants, so even novices can become gardening pros. If you ever get stuck, you also have the added benefit of being connected to the Grobo community, who should be able to help you out.
This really does seem like the perfect answer to those with minimal space and little gardening experiencing. Now all you have to do is decide what you want to plant!
