Weddings Are Back! Here’s What To Expect…

  • Are you the lucky recipient of a wedding invitation this summer? Take a peek at how celebrations are shaping up in 2021.

  • Scene setting

There are no limits on guest numbers, but weddings are still likely to be smaller. Micro weddings are on the up so if you’ve made the guest list for a bijou ceremony, feel the love. Don’t be surprised if the wedding’s on a weekday, it’s an extra busy season this year.

The pandemic has given us all a chance to think about what really matters so 2021 nuptials will be even more personal. Whether it’s a low key, laid back garden gathering or a quality over quantity all-out affair, it’ll be filled with plenty of personal touches.

As it’s a while since we’ve been able to get together for a celebration, occasions could go on for longer. Rehearsal dinners and drinks before the big day, brunches and barbeques the day after – let’s keep those party vibes going!

  • Style it up

Whether she wears lace, bows or a statement skirt, there’s a good chance the bride will be in a rented or pre-loved dress so why not take her lead? Sustainable fashion is here to stay and beats shelling out a small fortune on spanking new clothes.

Borrow an outfit or spruce up an old favourite with different accessories and make sure it’s looking on point with a good press or careful steam. Get more summer fashion tips here.

  • Décor galore

If the bridal party have been honing their crafty skills over lockdowns, then expect plenty of fabulous DIY decorations from bunting and hand-tied bouquets to macramé and paper pompoms. It’ll be quite the display.

There’s also a natural feel going on with even more flowers and foliage than usual. They’ll be lining the aisle, arching the entrance and cascading from tables in vibrant summer colours to make a statement (note to self: have hay fever meds to hand).

  • Tuck in

Sustainability doesn’t stop at wedding clothes; seasonal menus are also massively popular. And so they should be – eco-friendly, cost effective and bursting with flavour, they make a great impression.

To drink? Signature cocktails are a trend that’s still very much in demand. Sample what might be on offer with this mega summer wedding signature cocktail list.

Alternative cakes are still big news. Cupcake columns allow the happy couple to customise to their hearts’ content and makes things safer and easier to serve. Plus, they’re DIY-able. Same goes for a biscuit tower stacked with pretty biccies.

One thing’s for sure, after the ups and downs of the past 18 months everyone will be ready to let loose and party, so have a great time!
