What do you think is the most Instagrammable food? Freakshakes? Avocado on toast? Showstopper-style cakes? But not curry, surely?
Well, curry has in fact been revealed as the most Instagrammable food of all, thanks to new analysis by Stay in Cornwall, which has taken a close look at hashtagged food on the social image sharing site over the past year to find out which foods Brits find the most snap-worthy. Aside: doesn’t scrolling through pictures of food all day sound like the best job?!
Altogether, there were more than half a million pictures of curry uploaded to ‘the gram’ (as the cool kidz say) over the past year – some 551,701 in total, making curry officially more popular than avocado. Who knew?!

Avocado came in second place, with 271,789 snaps of the millennial favourite uploaded to Insta in the last year, while Great British classic fish and chips took third place with 63,856 #foodstagram snaps overall.
Yorkshire puddings came in fourth place, with 51,556 Insta images in total, followed by cream teas in fifth (45,189) and sausage rolls in sixth (29,113). Trifle was a surprise seventh place entry (11,359), and the humble chip butty came in eighth with 9,121 Instagram snaps over the last 12 months. Yes, we are off to search for them now…
Cornish pasties came in ninth place, with 6,393 images of these regional favourites uploaded to Insta in the past year, while beef wellington took tenth place, with 2,432 pics in total.

Stay in Cornwall identified something of a regional divide when it came to Instagrammable grub, with northerners most likely to post sausage roll pics – slightly living up to a stereotype – and Ayr found to be the UK’s sausage roll Instagramming capital. Forget village in bloom, this is the accolade every location wants.
In contrast, snaps of fish and chips are more likely to come from southerners, which is understandable, as places like Devon and Cornwall have so many (Instagrammable, of course) spots for tucking into this classic by the sea, which we all know makes it taste even better. Fact.
All of this got us thinking what would the least Instagrammable food of all be? Pot Noodle? Turkey twizzlers? Rice pudding? What do you reckon? Let us know!
