Often overlooked – or overshadowed by its glossier green cousin, broccoli – cauliflower has enjoyed something of a resurgence recently. No longer just an occasional veg to have with your Sunday roast, it’s time to up your cauliflower game with exciting and creative recipes like cauliflower rice and cauliflower pizza.
It’s use as a carb-replacement means cauliflower’s popularity is on the rise and we want to help you get on this trend.
Cauliflower’s available all-year round, but is at it’s best between December and mid-April, so we highly recommend making the most of it before it heads out of season towards the end of the month.
As well as being delicious, cauliflower is packed with some fantastic nutrients, including sulforaphane, which is linked to improved blood pressure and kidney function; and anti-inflammatory nutrients and compounds, which can safeguard against mistakenly-triggered inflammation. It’s also packed full of vitamins and minerals – including Vitamin C in abundance! – as well as those all-important free radical fighting antioxidants that can help in the fight against ageing.
Keen to get more cauliflower into your diet? We were hard pushed to limit our selection to five, but here are our favourites.
- Cauliflower cheese
