It seems that everyone in the UK loves a good curry. In fact, it has become a British national dish over the years, with around 23 million people tucking into the spicy dish regularly.
Not only do we love a traditional curry – there are over 9,000 Indian, Bangladeshi and Pakistani restaurants in the UK to prove it – we’ve also created our own varieties, including the seemingly timeless tikka masala.

The curry that we know and love today has gone through a lot of different incarnations, from being a stew with a bit of rice and a few spices thrown in it during the 1700s to the Birmingham Balti, which was created in the 1970s to keep up with the British demand for lighter, healthier and faster dishes.
It’s now the case that people judge you a little bit for the type of curry you order – no one wants to be the one to choose a korma when sitting with vindaloo eaters. You can tell a lot about a person based on their curry of choice, so what kind of curry are you?

Mild mannered
-
Not all curries need to be hot enough to burn a hole through your tongue, some can be all about the flavour rather than the spice. This is why you love a good flavourful and mild dish that hits the spot and fills you up without leaving you gulping water.
You don’t need to be over-the-top or shout about what you have to offer, everyone knows that you’re the perfect standby when they need something comforting. As well as being an old favourite, you’re the best friend of first timers and spice-phobics alike, giving them a bit of insight into the curry life without scaring them off.
People might try to make you feel ashamed for being who you are, but you just smile at them and carry on as you know you’re pretty great.

Spicy and enticing
-
There’s no ignoring you when you’re in the room. Your loud, brash and delicious, but definitely not for the faint-hearted.
You’re the dish that everyone thinks looks okay but before they know it, you’ve knocked their socks off and left them sweating. Sometimes you look unassuming and other times your colours definitely dish out a warning, but either way you are hot hot hot.
You get conversations started, make people laugh – some even cry – and teach important life lessons through your fiery passion. Those who love you completely adore you while some people grow to dread you.
We’d go so far as to say you’re the Marmite of the curry world, but you’ve totally embraced that.

Dry delight
-
Whoever said you need buckets of sauce to be the perfect curry? You know that dry is the way forward and that you can’t beat a solid flavour base when it comes to a good meal. Some people may disregard you entirely, but you know you’re too good for them anyway.
You don’t need all that extra nonsense to be fierce, after all, why try and dress up perfection? All that’s really required is the main star of the show, some great spice and a huge pile of chapatis or poppadoms to see you through.
Whether you’re in a spicy or mild mood, you know that you’ve got it all going on and woe betide the person who thinks you’re easy to skip over.

Made-at-home magic

Others may think that the local curry house is the way forward but you know the truth. You’re all about the extra love and attention that goes into creating perfection and you don’t need anyone to take that away from you.
There’s nothing like being creative in the kitchen and you embrace the difficulties and challenges that brings you with fervour. People love it when they hear you pottering about and are soon praising the smells wafting on the air. You are the curry king and you won’t let anyone tell you any different.
Even when you’re being lazy, you can still whip up a feast with one hand tied behind your back. No matter what curry you fancy, it won’t take long for you to beat it into submission.

Speed orderer

When it comes to curry, no one can order as fast as you. With the best takeaways on speed dial and menus memorised, you can have dinner on the table in an hour or less just by using your index finger.
Whether you’re having a friendly feast or a night in for one – although you’ll probably order for two – people stay out of your way when you’re wielding that phone. You’re happy to mix things up and step out to grab your grub, but you know that eating at home is where it’s at.
Nothing beats container food delivered in a flash with free onion bhajis thrown in – unless, of course, it’s a homemade curry made in 20 minutes or less in the Cook4Me Connect – so you won’t change who you are for anyone.
